Habiba Zulum & APWEN’s Donate Blankets & Relief Materials to IDPs in Borno.

The Association of Women Engineers (APWEN) Maiduguri Chapter has, organised distribution of Food and Non-food items to internally displaced persons at Shuwari 5 IDPs camp.

Wife of the Borno State Governor, Engr. Habiba Babagana Umara Zulum flagged off the distribution at the premises of the camp.

In her remarks, Engr. Habiba expressed happiness over the gesture by APWEN to the IDPs.

“It makes me happy to see my fellow women collecting this small gift, with very big smiles on their faces. This cannot happen without the will of Allah and effort of the APWEN Chairperson alongside her Excos.

“I’m calling for everyone to indulge in more prayers, for Allah to bring back peace to our dear state and nation at large. We’ll Insha Allah come back, this will not be the last time.” Habiba said.

In her welcome address earlier, Engr. Kori Shettima Chairperson of (APWEN) Maiduguri Chapter, who hosted the occasion disclosed that, there were 1,651 IDPs households from six local government areas in the northern part of Borno state, which include Monguno, Kukawa, Nganzai, Guzamala, Marte as well as Abadam Local Government who are residing in the camps.

She added that a total of one hundred households received the relief items so far, while the items include a Rice, Maggi Seasoning cubes, Salt, and the non-food items include Sanitary Pad, Washing and Bathing soaps, detergents and Vaseline.

Shettima also disclosed a donation of 200 blankets  by Her Excellency Engr. Habiba  Babagana Umara Zulum  to be added to the distributed items  for the IDPs  instantly due to  the harmattan period .

Husaini Ibrahim, the Camp’s facilitator, urged for more food support from the state government to the camp.

Hajara from kukawa thanked the organisers while crying for happiness, saying,”Thank you so much.. You’ve given life to thousands, may Allah bless you and your husband, His Excellency Professor Babagana Zulum, as you take care of us in the state.”

The Camp Chairman expressed his gratitude to Governor Zulum and Engr. Habiba Zulum for the good work they have been doing for the state.

The Camp Women Leader  Hajja Yagama was  also full of praise to the Governor, his wife and leadership of APWEN,” saying,” we waited for the support for so long, and at last we’ve got the support and recognition from the government. ”

“We also thank all the various NGOs that are here helping us. We’re 100 percent with govt at all levels and we are happy for the campaign on school, especially girl child’s education,” Tagana said.
