A lot has been said and written about the late president Muhammad Buhari, it’s good you get to know some certain facts about him.
BUHARI THE 23RD CHILD OF HIS FAMILY
Do you know that buhari who was born on 17th December 1942 in Daura Katsina State is the twenty-third child of his father Mallam Hardo Adamu, a Fulani Chieftain originally from Dumurkul in Mai’Adua and Zulaihat? He was named after ninth-century Islamic Scholar Muhammad al-Bukhari.
BUHARI THE 4 YEAR OLD BOY
The Igbos are widely known for their business acumen but Buhari’s great-grand father Yusuf was a great business man. Unfortunately, Buhari didn’t get to know his father well because he was only 4 years old when his father died and Waziri Alhassan, the son of the Emir, Musa Dan Nuhu became the guardian of Buhari’s mother Zulaihat and her six children which buhari was not left out.

Buhari’s leadership skills has always made him to stand out in the crowd that’s why he became a head boy and house captain in his secondary school days. Buhari attended Qur’anic school, where he helped in rearing cattle. Between 1953 to 1961 he had his primary and secondary education. His outstanding performance earned him a scholarship by Elder Dempster Lines for a summer visit to the United Kingdom.
BUHARI THE PROPOSED MEDICAL DOCTOR
Buhari had a serious flare for medicine, it formed his thoughts and he was determined to become a medical doctor but quite unfortunately the only option at the time was pharmacology at the Nigerian College of Art, Science and Technology in Zaria and this would absolutely take him many years, he got a bit discouraged. Pondering on that, his nephew brought up a suggestion to him which landed him to his re-known career today as once a military man. Mamman his nephew advised him to join the Nigerian Military and pursue degree there which he did.
BUHARI’S MILITARY JOURNEY
In 1961 he fully joined the Nigerian army when he was admitted to the Nigerian Military college Kaduna. In 1962 to 1963 he traveled to England where he underwent officer cadets training school after which he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in January 1963. Then he proceeded to Kaduna to attend platoon commander course in Kaduna which later earned him the appointment of platoon commander of second infantry Battalion in Abeokuta. Later went back to England to attend mechanical transport officer’s course at the Army Mechanical Transport School(AMTS).
BUHARI’S KEY COMMAND AND STAFF POSITIONS
His competency and dedication made him to be highly regarded, several appointments was given to him. These include Secretary, Supreme Military Council , Military Governor of the North Eastern State, Federal Commissioner of Petroleum Corporation, General Officer Commanding, 3rd Armoured Division, among others.
