Intersection of Security and Social Stablity

National security ensures safety and stability, political activism drives social change and accountability, and human rights protect individual freedoms and dignity. Together, they form the foundation for a just and secure society.

The relation between these three revolves around balance. Political security, a subset of national security, focuses on safeguarding democratic governance and political stability by upholding human rights and preventing political violation and oppression. Violation of this rights can lead to social unrest, undermine national security and threaten human security by fostering inequality and conflict

In essence, national security and human rights must be balanced to achieved sustainable peace, justice and development.

Accoridng to Haifan-K, “National security stands as the cornerstone upon which the well-being and prosperity of every individual within a nation are built, nurturing a society that is both safe and inclusive for all.”

In the words of Margaret Mead, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”

Mr. Peter Benenson, founder of Amnesty International, has this to say, “The candle burns not for us, but for all those whom we failed to rescue from prison, who were shot on the way to prison, who were tortured, who were kidnapped, who ‘disappeared’.”
