What Opposition Coalitionists Don’t Know About President Tinubu

By Musa Bakare

What many in the opposition coalition don’t know about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is simple: once he is convinced a course is right, he never backs down. He employs every strategic tool, every ounce of experience, and every network at his disposal to achieve what he believes will better serve the nation.

From his days in NADECO during the June 12 struggle, Tinubu has been guided by conviction. While others compromised or sought comfort, he stood firm, insisting Nigeria must return to democracy. That consistency made him one of the true architects of Nigeria’s democratic rebirth in 1999.

As Governor of Lagos State, he faced a hostile federal government that withheld the state’s allocations. Asiwaju Tinubu did not surrender. Instead, he devised creative solutions, grew internally generated revenue, and laid the foundation that turned Lagos into Nigeria’s economic powerhouse.

President Tinubu is not only a man of conviction but also of strategy. He understands that noble intentions without execution amount to nothing. His political career is a study in coalition building, timing, and resilience.

His road to the presidency itself proves it. Many thought it impossible. He faced betrayal, internal opposition, and relentless attacks, but he never flinched. He pressed forward, deploying decades of political capital to clinch the presidency in 2023, clear proof that he is the leader Nigeria deserves at this moment.

Now in power, that same quality is on display. Removing fuel subsidies, unifying exchange rates, and reforming fiscal policies he believes are the medicine Nigeria needs to avoid total collapse.

True to character, he has not backed down. Instead, he matched courage and boldness with strategy, rolling out wage awards, student loans, cash transfers, and infrastructure projects to ease the pains and prepare the ground for future growth.

To students of history, Asiwaju is undaunted and resolute. Opposition coalition see only today’s noise; he sees tomorrow’s stability. Leadership is not about applause in the short term, but about laying foundations that outlive the leader.

This is why President Tinubu stays the course. He knows history rewards courage, not hesitation.

What the opposition coalitionists don’t know about President Tinubu is this: if he believes the course is right, he never backs down. He has the courage to decide, the strategy to execute, and the patience to endure criticism until results speak.

In a time when Nigeria needs more than rhetoric, Tinubu offers resolve. History will remember him as the leader who chose conviction over compromise, and strategy over surrender.
