ADC Declares Commitment to Building a Strong Party
ADC Chairman, Sen. David Mark Presents Party’s Roadmap for Inclusive and Transparent Leadership
The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to building a values-driven, transparent, and inclusive political movement aimed at reshaping Nigeria’s political culture.
Speaking at the National Working Committee (NWC) meeting held Tuesday in Abuja, Senator Mark said the ADC is determined to prove that politics in Nigeria can work for everyone and not just for a privileged few.
“We begin with a conviction that Nigeria can and will work for everyone,” he said, emphasizing the party’s goal to become “bigger than any personality, stronger than any moment, and positively different from any party in the annals of our country.”
He described the ADC as a party of purpose and determination, not impulses, adding that the movement would be guided by four core leadership pillars: character, competence, courage, and discipline.
Senator Mark announced a comprehensive reform framework tagged the Integrity and Performance Compact, anchored on open governance, merit-based appointments, clean elections, and citizen-centered service delivery.
Under this compact, the ADC plans to publish independent annual audits, enforce procurement rules, and implement strict conflict of interest and gift policies. The chairman also pledged that all appointments, whether in party structures or government, would be determined by merit, not loyalty.
He further promised digital, verifiable membership and primaries, rigorous candidate screening, and quarterly public scorecards to promote accountability.
On inclusion, Senator Mark revealed that the party will institutionalize standing councils to represent women, youths, workers, farmers, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups — “not as tokens, but as architects of policies and programmes.”
He also committed the ADC to defend the separation of powers, restore judicial independence, and ensure that budgets serve the public interest through transparent and timely appropriations.
Addressing Nigeria’s economic priorities, Senator Mark said the ADC will focus on price stability, productivity, food security, and job creation through credible fiscal and monetary coordination. He emphasized that Nigerians will judge the party not by rhetoric or statistics, but by “what they feel in their daily lives — lower volatility, more reliable power, visible projects, and decent work.”
He concluded with a call for a new political attitude:
“The political class has too often served itself. We must change this outdated pattern. We seek not power for its own sake, but to build a legacy worthy of our children.”
The meeting, attended by top party officials and stakeholders, marks one of the strongest reform declarations by the ADC leadership in recent years.
