Public Citizens are the Conscience of the Public Space
Introduction
A society is what it becomes through what the citizens permit themselves to do and what it permits its leaders to do. Every society has the potential to become great provided the public leaders are able to harness the citizens to pursue the collective good.
It is possible for individual members of a society to be locked in the pursuit of their personal goals and forget looking out for what promotes the common good.
Individuals that advocate for or work for the common good, are referred to as public citizens. Without the intervention of public citizens, no society can attain its full potential.
Mobilizing for political consciousness and political participation is one of the ways to encourage the emergence of Public Citizens.
What is “The Public Citizens Forum”?
The Public Citizen Forum is a public service initiative of Fled Group Africa to promote among citizens and with their government and on all public issues.
How Does it Work?
The operations of the PCF involves online and onsite events including conversations, lobbying efforts, as well as advocacy engagements.
The Public Citizen Podcast Show, which will feature guest interviews, discussions, and reviews of current political, economic, cultural and social issues. The show discusses intersections of diverse public issues and offer solutions.
The show explores answers to the following questions and more:
- Who is a public citizen?
- What do public citizens do?
- How can individuals become public citizens?
- What are the challenges of becoming a public citizen?
- How can we encourage private citizens to become public citizens?
- What are the advantages of being a public citizen?
- How can we promote the concept of public citizenship as an integral part of democratic culture?
The Show is broadcast every Tuesday at 2: 00 pm – 3: 00 pm, West Africa Time
