Invest in Northern Youths not Libraries

Amb. Abdul Dan Bature, the National President of the Arewa Youths Assembly for Good Leadership (AYAGL), has called on former Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), to redirect proceeds from his recently launched memoir, “A Journey in Service”, towards establishing companies that would create job opportunities for Northern youths.
Amb. Bature applauded IBB for documenting his legacy and contributing to Nigeria’s historical records but emphasized that what Northern youths need most is sustainable employment, not just access to books. He highlighted the struggles of many young people in the region, who face economic hardship and lack of opportunities, stressing that creating businesses would provide a lasting impact on their lives and the nation’s development.
“Our youths need more than libraries. They need jobs, skills, and a chance to build their futures. If the proceeds from the book are channeled into industries, countless young people could find meaningful work and the ability to provide for themselves and their families,” Amb. Bature stated.
He further urged those who contributed towards the proposed presidential library to consider reinvesting that support into youth-focused initiatives. According to him, investing in job creation, vocational training centers, and startup funding for young entrepreneurs would serve as a more practical legacy, addressing the region’s unemployment crisis.
“History will honor leaders not only for preserving the past but for building the future. Let’s make history by empowering the next generation through opportunity and action,” he concluded.
The Arewa Youths Assembly remains committed to advocating for practical solutions that uplift young Nigerians and contribute to national progress.
