Imo State Government Announces 2025/2026 Academic calendar
The Imo State Commissioner for Education, Prof . JohnCliff Ckike Nwadike, has approved the academic calendar for the 2025/2026 School year.
In a statement signed on his behalf by Mrs. P.N. Dike, Director of UBSE, the Honourable Commissioner, informed the Heads of Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools in the State of the schedule schedule as follows.
The first term begins on Monday, 8th September, 2025 and ends on Friday, 12th December, 2025, with a total duration of 14 weeks. The first term holidays will run for three weeks starting form Monday, 15th December, 2025 to Friday, 2nd January, 2026. The total time for the holidays is 3 weeks.
The Second is scheduled to begin on Monday, 5th January, 2026; to end on Thursday, 2nd April, 2026, with total duration of 13 weeks. The Second term holidays spans from 5th April, 2026 to Friday, 24th April, 2026; 2 weeks.
The third term begins on Monday, 27th April, 2026, and ends on Friday, 24th July, 2026, with a duration of 13 weeks; while the long term vacation will run from Monday, 27th July to Friday, 4th September, 2026; 6 weeks.
The first Term of the 2026/2027 academic session has also been scheduled to commence on Monday, 7th September, 2026.
School heads are kindly advised to take note of this schedule and make the necessary preparations to ensure compliance with the approved academic timetable.
