It was indeed a great occasion on Wednesday 17th September 2025 when Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) Anambra state chapter by the leadership of Bishop Moses Ezedebego handed over a gigantic complex made of classroom blocks and a Unity Chapel to the Nigerian Correctional Service in Onitsha. It’s a move geerd towards raising the hope of the inmates thereby creating a second chance for education and life generally.
The occasion was honoured by many dignitaries and the dedication was done by the PFN National president, Eminence Bishop Francis Wale Oke, represented by the PFN National Deputy President, Rev,Dr. Cosmas Ilechukwu.
In an interview with the Anambra state chairman who is the originator of the vision, he said he felt that some of the inmates have great ambitions of furthering in their education, some have shown great interest of returning back to the four walls of education so he beats his chest to see their dreams come true. “We made several visits to the Correctional center and I personally saw the hunger of the inmates to continue their education against all odds. Education is light that lightens our parts, when light appears darkness looses ground. The conception of the project is not just as a building of bricks and walls, rather, a center of character transformation, a place of learning, center of hope, as well as spirituality” he said
Bishop Moses Ezedebego went further to say that under his regime as a state chairman, he has championed and executed many projects such as, PFN hospital , PFN Secretariat, among others and all was driven by his love for God and love for humanity. “Am here to serve as a state chairman and I vow to make a difference, to impact lives and to achieve a reasonable things for the state before my tenure is over” he affirmed.
Speaking further, bishop Ezedebego said that PFN would sink a borehole in no distance time within the facility to be able to provide water for the inmates while they try to extend hands to several other centers across the state.
Rev,Dr. Ilechukwu during the word of exaltations emphasis that the chapel itself symbolises both God’s presence and a new beginning. He said despite the fact that circumstances of life make people inmates, their true identity remains in God.
Controller General Nwakuche praised the PFN intervention in collaboration with the Anambra state government, saying that the access to education has a way of equipping mind for reintegration into the society. “This is nothing but a complete reform at work” he concluded.
Bishop Emmanuel Obiora explained further on the two facilities in one. He said the classrooms are where the inmates enroll for school and study without distractions while the chapel is to keep their spirituality alive as they pray to God. If the facilities are fully utilize then it will be a dream come true for Anambra state PFN.
