President Tinubu Approves New Nigerian Army Depot in Abakaliki
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of an additional Nigerian Army Depot in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, further strengthening the nation’s military training and recruitment infrastructure.
With this approval, Nigeria now has three major Army depot training locations strategically spread across the country.
The existing depots are located in Osogbo (Southwest) and Zaria (Northern Region), while the newly approved Abakaliki depot will serve the Southeast. This balanced regional distribution reflects a deliberate effort by the Tinubu administration to promote inclusiveness, equal opportunity, and national integration within the Armed Forces.
Beyond inclusivity, the new depot is expected to boost manpower development, improve response capacity, and enhance security operations nationwide. It will also bring economic and social benefits to Ebonyi State and the Southeast at large through job creation and increased federal presence.
This move underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening national security and building a united Nigeria through strategic reforms and regional integration.
