About the Fellowship
The Future World Fellowship Programme (FWFP) is a selective, experiential programme designed to expand development journalism and thought leadership in Africa. The Fellowship provides hands-on exposure to participants who serve as writers, research, and editorial production within a respected African thought leadership magazine established in 2001.
The Fellowship aligns with Future World Magazine’s mission to provide credible analysis, balanced storytelling, and forward-looking insights on Africa and global affairs.

Fellowship Outputs
By the end of the programme, Fellows will produce:
- 6–8 publishable articles
- At least 1 high-level interview
- 1 multimedia content piece
- A capstone thought leadership project
Certification & Recognition
Successful Fellows will receive a:
Certificate in Editorial Leadership & Thought Leadership Practice
Top-performing Fellows may be:
- Featured prominently in Future World Magazine
- Retained as contributing writers or editors
- Recommended for media and policy opportunities

- Retired public leaders from any discipline including media, communications, public policy, development studies, and international relations.
- Young practicing journalists, researchers, writers, and media professionals who desire to venture into development journalism.
What Fellows Do
Fellows work with our senior editors and contribute to both print and digital editions of Future World Magazine.
Fellows may be engaged in:
- Research and background analysis for features
- Interview preparation and documentation
- Writing and editing articles and opinion pieces
- Fact-checking and editorial support
- Digital publishing and content promotion
Admission Process
Admission is competitive and merit-based.
Applicants are required to submit:
- A short statement of interest
- Writing samples or published work (where available)
- Academic or professional reference (where applicable)

All Fellows are expected to uphold:
- Editorial independence and neutrality
- Accuracy, integrity, and professional conduct
- Respect for confidentiality and intellectual property
