- Is AIPL a training organization?
No. AIPL is primarily a professional membership institute.
While members have access to professional development opportunities, AIPL’s principal role is to build, support, recognize, and advance public leadership as a profession in Africa.
- What is meant by “Public Leadership”?
Public leadership refers to leadership exercised for the public good.
It includes leadership within:

Yet public leadership, which significantly influences national development, has lacked a dedicated professional membership institute.
AIPL was established to help fill this gap.
- Is AIPL a replacement for ACPL?
Yes. AIPL is the successor institution to the Africa Centre for Public Leadership (ACPL).
The transition reflects the evolution of the organization from a leadership centre into a continental professional membership institute.
The legacy, values, and heritage of ACPL remain fully preserved within AIPL.
- What is AIPL’s relationship with FLED International Leadership Institute?
AIPL operates under the leadership oversight and institutional support of FLED International Leadership Institute during its development phase.
FLED International Leadership Institute provides professional development support and institutional backing as AIPL grows toward independent legal and professional status.

Specific criteria are prescribed by the Institute’s Fellowship regulations.
- Is AIPL a chartered institute?
Not yet. AIPL is currently developing as a professional membership institute.
Its long-term vision includes supporting the advancement of public leadership as a recognized profession and promoting the establishment and growth of chartered or legally recognized public leadership institutes across Africa.
- Does AIPL operate only in Nigeria?
No. Although currently headquartered in Nigeria, AIPL has a continental vision and welcomes members from all African countries and the African diaspora.
