New Rail line to Nigeria with Niger Republic

The Federal Government has approved for the construction of a new rail line to link Nigeria with Niger Republic.

The Federal Executive Council at a meeting on Wednesday presided over by the President, President Muhammadu Buhari, approved the sum of $1,959,744,723.71 for the project. Speaking with State House Reporters after the meeting, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, said the proposed rail line will link Kano-Dutse-Katsina-Jibia and to Maradi in Niger Republic.

Amaechi also said the Council further approved the award of a contract worth N3.049 billion for the design, manufacture, supply, testing, and commissioning of one railway crane for the purposes of clearing rail tracks in situations of accidents.
