ADF Commends Nigerian Youths For Standing Up Against Injustice

Alaigbo Development Foundation (ADF), an intellectual think-tank, has expressed support the Nigerian Youths in the #ENDSARS peaceful mass protest across the country.

In a statement signed by ADF Spokesman, Abia Onyike, the organisation said it sees the peaceful protest as a qualitative leap in the development of political consciousness of Nigerian Youths.

ADF commended the Youths for their courage and determination to engage in a popular mass resistance to register their opposition against the pervasive culture of Police brutality, impunity and extra-judicial execution of Nigerians without due process and without diligent prosecution.

The organisation called on the Federal Government and the Police Authorities to set up an independent Judicial Panel of Inquiry to probe into the extra judicial killings by SARS with a view to bringing erring Police Officers to book.

ADF regreted the reaction of some Northern Governors who rejected the protest against SARS noting such position is part of the lines that seek to divide the country.

ADF sees the current Youth uprising as the high tide of the people’s total rejection of injustice and domination.

The organisation therefore called on all freedom loving people in around the world to support this protests in order to end what it described as ‘impunity and repressive governance in the Federal Republic of Nigeria’.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government had already given a directive to Police Authorities to identify and prosecute all SARS Officers indicted for human rights abuses.
