Buni Commissions Potiskum Township Roads, Drainages
By Sadiq Abubakar
As part of efforts to reduce problems of flood during the rainy season, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has on Wednesday commissioned the construction of township roads and drainage in Potiskum town.
The project comprises 5.2 kilometre roads and concrete drainage that are expected to reduce flood, enhance movements and escalate socio-economic activities.
The project is a continuation of Governor Buni’s urban and rural infrastructural development project aimed at developing towns and villages across Yobe state.
Governor Buni emphasized that Yobe state is endowed with rich agricultural potentials, therefore, the need for good roads cannot be overemphasized. It is critical in enhancing movement of agricultural produce and livestock to the markets for farmers to have value for their labour, he noted.
Similar projects, the Governor said, have been completed in Babban Gida, Buni Yadi, Damaturu, Jajimaji and work was flagged off yesterday for the project in Geidam town, while more towns will benefit.
