The New Business of NIN Registration

The National Identity registration has turned into a thriving business in Lokoja, Kogi State.
In the past few days, individuals that seek to secure the National Identity Number (NIN) have besieged office of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in Adankolo- Lokoja. Many arrive as early as 6: 00am for their national identity card and registration.
According to eyewitness, registration forms are being sold at the rate of N50, while those who came to collect their temporary Identity card after 6 months were asked to pay N1,000. The Lamination of the temporary card was also charged at N100.
People complained that the number of computers available at the center were not enough as only three are provided, which made the registration process slow and tiring. They also complained that the deadline given for NIN sim verification was too sudden and short, since many people are yet to carry out their National Identification registration as well the effect of the slow registration process.
