WHAT IS FLED GROUP AFRICA?
WHAT IS FLED GROUP AFRICA?
Many people, at first contact with us often seem overwhelmed when they consider the many institutions and programs associated with FLED Group Africa – FGA- that they regard it as amorphous and too large to grasp.
But it is simple and straightforward. FLED Group Africa is an ecosystem of human development and human flourishing under God.
It is not simply an organization, a company, an NGO, a church, an educational institution, or a collection of independent organizations.
FLED Group Africa is a commonwealth of purpose. It is an interconnected ecosystem of institutions, enterprises, initiatives, people, ideas and communities working together, within their respective mandates, to cultivate people, develop leadership, strengthen institutions, create opportunities and contribute to a more responsible, productive, prosperous and flourishing Africa.
What does FLED Group Africa exist to do?
This is a question that may bother your mind. Established in 1995 by Joseph Chinenyeze Ibekwe, FLED exists to do a few strategic things, including to:
Cultivate people and develop human potential;
Form responsible leaders and strengthen leadership capacity;
Advance education, knowledge and lifelong learning;
Build and strengthen institutions that can endure beyond individuals;
Promote enterprise, productivity and wealth creation;
Develop communities and expand opportunities;
Promote African development and transformation;
Provide a moral and ethical coordinate for responsible living and leadership;
And ultimately, contribute to human flourishing under God.
What makes FLED an ecosystem?
FLED Group Africa is an ecosystem because it brings together different platforms serving different purposes.
Its educational and leadership institutions develop knowledge and people.
Its enterprise institutions create economic opportunities and productive capacity.
Its media and publishing platforms develop and circulate ideas.
Its community and social initiatives serve people and strengthen families.
Its faith and moral foundation provides a higher ethical coordinate.
These platforms do not have to do the same thing to belong to the same ecosystem.
They are connected by a common purpose, philosophy, values and institutional identity.
What holds FLED together?
The FLED ecosystem is guided by Fledism Philosophy and a commitment to clear principles as illustrated here.
FLED Group Africa stands for:
People before power; Stewardship before ownership; Responsibility alongside freedom; Productivity alongside prosperity; Character alongside competence; Institutions over personalities.
We believe knowledge should translate into usefulness; enterprise should be guided by values; and human flourishing is the larger purpose of every endeavor.
What does “under God” mean?
FLED recognizes that human development is not merely material or technical.
Its understanding of human flourishing includes the intellectual, moral, social, economic and spiritual dimensions of human life.
The moral coordinate of the FLED ecosystem is therefore grounded in the conviction that human beings are ultimately accountable to God for how they use their lives, leadership, knowledge, resources and influence.
In summary, FLED Group Africa is a platform for cultivating people, developing institutions, creating opportunities and advancing human flourishing. It operationalizes these by bringing leadership, education, enterprise, community and moral responsibility into one purposeful ecosystem.
FGA is African in origin, African in context and African in aspiration, while remaining open to people and partnerships across the world.
Therefore, FLED Group Africa is the ecosystem. Its institutions are the platforms. Its people are its greatest asset. Its philosophy is Fledism. Its posture is stewardship. Its moral coordinate is grounded in God. Its work is human development. And its larger purpose is human flourishing.
FLED Group Africa is committed to cultivating people, building institutions, creating possibilities and nurturing human flourishing under God.
