Sunday Dare to Tee-off Lady Captain’s Golf Tourney
The Honorable Minister of Sports, Mr Sunday Dare will tee-off the LIZ-ULUMARANMA 2020, LADY CAPTAIN INAUGURAL TOURNAMENT, on Saturday November 7, by 8am at the Parkland Golf Resort, Abuja.
Lizzy Ulunma Asomugha, the Lady Captain and convener, disclosed this today during a press conference at the Club House.
According to Lady Lizzy, more than 100 golfers from different parts of the country have so far registered to participate at the tournament. She informed that the tournament is one of the activities she and her executive members plan to implement during her tenure, 2020/2021 to inspire and encourage women, especially young ladies to take to golf.
“This is in the hope that one day we will see many young Nigerian ladies, as professionals, competing at the international level and in several global golf competitions”. she said.
In his short remarks, the Chairman of Parkland Gold Resort, Engr. Bello expressed delight with the arrangements put in place for a successful event and thanked the Lady Captain and her team for the initiative to organise the tournament.
Several lady golfers from other Golf Clubs in Abuja including IBB International Golf Club, Goodluck Jonathan Golf Club, Eagle Golf Club, and Parkland Golf Club, attended the press briefing.
Apart from the lady Golfers, a number of male golfers are expected to add colour and prestige to the tournament. Prices will be awarded in the Amateurs, Veterans and Super Veterans categories, while the tournament will be rounded off with a dinner.
Parkland Golf Resort Club is recognised a Government approved course for the promotion of grassroots golfing particularly among children.
